Wanted: Liberal blogger for Saratogian site
A reader named "Patriot" asked me why The Saratogian doesn't have a left-leaning blogger to offset Tom Lewis's far one.
My answer: I'd LOVE to add one on our site.
If you have any suggestions for a LOCAL blogger who would fit the bill, or you write one yourself, Patriot, please email me at blombardo@journalregister.com (which replaced my saratogian.com email). I knew about Tom's blog and invited him on board, hoping it would generate discussion AND that a counter-blogger would step up.
And, yes, Patriot, I agree with you that the "mainstream media is left" is a lot of garbage.

Ms Lombardo
I think you are missing a key point here.
Your current blogger Mr Lewis espouses a FAR RIGHT perspective. That is, it is to the right of 'conservative.'
A 'liberal' blogger would not be offring a counterpoint.
A true counterpoint to Mr Lewis would be FAR LEFT, as in Socialist or Communist.
In other words, I am not sure you realize just how "out there" Mr Lewis' ideoplogy is.
Try reading "Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News," by Bernard Goldstein. You have been in your profession long enough to remember how the case studies in his book actually played out on the national media, so you won't have to rely solely on his descriptions.
The mainstream media is consistently left-leaning in how they use words, and this denial of yours is the party line of the MSM.
You can't fix the problem until you recognize that there is a problem.
Giving equal exposure to the left and the right in opinion columns isn't enough when the hard news is reported with a slant to the left.
Barbara, I've gotten 2 comments asking how come there isn't a counter balance (and someone more rational than me) on the Saratogian Blog. In both instances, I referred them to you.
I hope someone steps up so I won't be all alone out here in the "right" (or is it "wrong") stratosphere.
I wonder if our "Patriot" friend also thinks my position on social issues (I'm pro choice and have no objection to gay marriage) are to the right of "conservative."
That said, he's entitled to his opinion... just as I am.
I do look forward to someone stepping up and blog issues on the left, or the far left, or as the Patriot wrote - a Socialist.
signed,
"out there."
His name isn't Goldstein, it's Goldberg. The same lackey who is on FOX News all the time.
Give me a break, like he is somebody I would want to read?
Ive read it
It was written by a neurotic who was ticked off because he didn;t get Cronkite's job. Who's Cronkite? Look him up.
Tell me: how can media networks that are owned by mega corporation be "left leaning"?
For example, why is both Sarah Palin and the Tea Party given such up-front recogntion and coverage? Has any losing VP canidate ever been plastered all over the airwaves like this?
The same with the Tea Party. They deserve to be treated as nothing more than one instance in a long line of minor dienfrachisemnt parties/movements, along the lines of Perot, LaRouche, and so on.
